FlyBoard grants funding to five Drosophila outreach programs

SAFYI organized an event for 50 secondary school students in Osogbo, Nigeria to introduce the Drosophila model system, demonstrate lab equipment, and carry out hands-on training using Foldscope microscopes.

COMPASS Outreach Grant Spotlight

The goal of this program was to increase awareness about basic issues in the field of science by supplementing practical-based science education, enhance scientific teaching, and inspire science careers through exposure to scientific research and career opportunities in cell biology and allied sciences.

One-day workshop to train secondary school students on handwashing and hygiene

The workshop tagged, “Science Education for Youngsters, ’’ had 55 students from secondary schools in Osun in attendance. Other lecturers at the event, Dr Akinde Babatunde from University of Osun and Mr Latona Taofeek from RUWESA, spoke on the sources and importance of water to human existence and how science was the foundation of human knowledge.
